Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Holidays! This'll be a shorter newsletter, as I'm in Utah right now, playing in the snow and getting ready to eat a huge Thanksgiving dinner with my family.

National Novel Writing Month

Natioinal Novel Writing Month

My niece just reminded me that it's National Novel Writing Month. If you're not familiar with NANOWRIMO, it's a time where tons of crazy people attempt to write a 50,000-word novel from scratch in one month. I've never had time to do it, but I'm sure it would be a great experience, especially for new writers.

Halloween - Use the FORCE!

Halloween

Here's our Halloween photo. One of my twins was Artemis Fowl. I was Darth Vader, of course, and my wife was Princess Leia. What was funny was that a lot of the kids in my neighborhood didn't know who Princess Leia was. What has the world come to when the younger generation aren't familiar with Star Wars?

As a side note, my wife got first place at the annual chilli cook-off/Halloween party we always go to. She was dumbfounded. The secret was adding sausage to the mix. Shhhh.

Santa's Lost Reindeer

Elk
Gingerbread House

A couple days ago we were driving down the street in Utah and my wife nearly crashed the car when she saw a bunch of elk on the side of the road. I told the boys it was Santa's reindeer that had gotten lost. Here's a picture. Turns out that they were domesticated elk. Further down the street, we saw domesticated bison.

Wow! Reminds me of the time when I was in Alabama and I saw pet pigs sitting on people's front porches. Actually, when I was in Alabama I also saw pet bobcats, alligators, and squirrels.

We just made this gingerbread house to get ready for Christmas. My kids are super excited! Our insurance company is basically paying for Christmas this year, as we are still replacing things from the fire. Should be fun.

Last remarks...

Well, that's it for this month. We have so much to be thankful for this year: a new house, a wonderful family, a good job, etc. I hope that you will take a moment to reflect on your blessings as well. Until next time....
